How To Get Around In Argentina

All major forms of transportation are available in Argentina, especially Buenos Aires yet depending on the areas, some more than others. Due to the currency devaluation prices are extremely low for foreigners compared to other parts of the world. What might be a $20 taxi ride in New York would equal about $3 in Buenos Aires for the same distance and time.

Each link on the right will give you a description of each form of transportation.

Most all of the major cities and destinations in Argentina are widely spread apart. If you are not running on a very tight budget you will find most airfares to run around $100-$150; sometimes even cheaper than that. If your budget is limited and you have the time, an omnibus can take you to various parts of the country for a real bargain.

Argentina is a bit tourist-unfriendly for those who are visiting for the first time; especially for those who do not speak Spanish. Not in sense of the people, culture, and environment but in how getting around can be challenging. Tourist-type direction signs that are found in most other major cities around the world are almost non-existent. This is not to scare you from visiting Argentina but more to let you know what to expect. Most hotels have maps and multi-language personnel who are friendly and willing to explain the various areas-of-interest and where they are located.
