Argentina Pizza RestaurantsLike pasta, pizza is in no short supply in Argentina. On almost any street block that has both commercial and residential properties, you can probably find at least one place that serves pizza. Finding a good pie, however, can be a bit of a challenge. There are some small hole-in-the-wall joints that offer great pizza at unbelievable prices, however, you might want to stay away from most of them. A lot of these places, which usually offer pizza for about 3-5 pesos are not very clean, use the cheapest ingredients available, or are just too greasy. You are much better off going to a restaurant that specializes in pizza, one of the many cafes serve them, or a small place that is has good crowds or delivery scooters. The variety of pizzas are pretty much uniform across all locations, yet many try to top their competitions by mixing different variety of toppings. Most of the restaurants serve the pies with pre-selected toppings, meaning you don't select each topping and order. However, that isn't to say you are not allowed to do so. Most Argentines are accustomed to eating their pizzas with forks and knives. This is in part due to the fact that many joints prepare their pizzas in a way that they are quite difficult to eat by hand. Pizza a la piedra, cooked on a stone, are a bit easier to eat because of a thinner and crunchier crust. Buenos AiresFilo Los Inmortales (Lavalle) |
