Shopping Centers and Malls In Buenos Aires
Abasto De Buenos Aires
Address: Avenida Corrientes between Agüero and 24 De Noviembre,
Buenos Aires
Details: Located in the Abasto area which was home to the world
famous tango star, Carlos Gardel. This 4-floor large shopping mall with
superb outer architectural designs was once a produce market. The mall
contains numerous shops, fashion boutiques, a food court, and a large
movie theater. If you are traveling from downtown, you can take the Subway
B-Line and get off at the Carlos Gardel Station.
Alto Palermo
Address: Avenida Santa Fe and Avenida Coronel Diaz, Buenos Aires
Description: Large shopping mall located in the Palermo neighborhood
where you can find both national and international shops, a food court,
TGI Friday's, and upscale fashion boutiques. Avenida Santa Fe also hosts
numerous shops all the way back to the downtown central area. You can
reach Alto Palermo by the Line D subway at the Bulnes Station.
Patio Bullrich
Address: Avenida Libertador 750, near Avenida Callao, Buenos Aires
Description: Patio Bullrich is the largest upscale shopping center
in Buenos Aires. It is located on the edge of the downtown business district
in close proximity to many of the city's world class 5-star hotels. Boutiques
from top international and domestic fashion houses populate this 3-story
building which also includes a food court. Patio Bullrich is a very short
walk from the Alvear Palace Hotel which provides personal shopping assistants
for the shopping center.
Buenos Aires Design
Address: Avenida Pueyrredón 250, Buenos Aires
Description: Located in Recoleta's Plaza Francia, a park where
many artisans display and sell their crafts on the weekends. Recoleta
is a fashionable neighborhood that is popular both with tourists and locals
for the numerous restaurants, hotels, and fashion boutiques that populate
the small streets. Buenos Aires Design is a shopping center that focuses
primarily on fashionable furniture, fixtures, and decorations. Although
it is not a place that most tourists would purchase goods from, a stroll
around the center is enjoyable nonetheless. The international restaurant
chain, Hard Rock Cafe, is attached to the building. Also the shopping
center is in very proximity to the famous Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva
Peron is buried.
Galerías Pacífico
Address: Florida 787, Buenos Aires
Description: This large shopping center is located on Calle Florida,
a popular pedestrian walkway filled with numerous banks, businesses, bookstores,
and shops. What was once a building that housed a railroad company, Galerías
Pacífico now offers great stores and trendy boutiques with many
well-known international brands. A definite "must see" are the
spectacular frescos painted by Raúl Soldi. The three-floor building
includes a food court and a movie theater.
UniCenter
Address: Parana 3745, Martinez
Description: Unicenter is Argentina's answer to the super-sized
shopping malls found in North America, and is the largest one in the country.
This mall is located in Martinez, which is just outside of the city of
Buenos Aires. The location is off the beaten track for tourists but you
may check with your hotel for a tour service or taxi service to reach
the center. Unicenter hosts a wide variety of domestic chain stores, international
and domestic fashion shops, bookstores, food courts, and specialty shops.
Also connected to the building is a movie theater and a Jumbo supermarket.
Jumbo
Address: Av. Bullrich 345
Description: Jumbo is not a shopping center mall but a large supermarket
that offers both food and home products. Not a tourist attraction but
if you are staying in Buenos Aires for an extended period of time and
would like to prepare your own foods, this is the best place to make your
purchases. Jumbo offers a large selection of products from milk to electronics
to socks. They carry almost all major and specialty domestic food brands
along with fine cuts of meat, seafood, and cheeses. What sets Jumbo apart
from the rest is their line of wide selection of imported ethnic, gourmet,
and specialty products. These items can range from german beer to mexican
taco sauces. The variety is not extensive but you should be able to find
something that will satisfy your tastes.
